Experienced leadership for thoughtful conversations about AI and the future of Alameda schools.

Alameda has always invested in strong public schools. As artificial intelligence changes education, our community has an opportunity to thoughtfully decide how it should support students, teachers, and families.

Why This Moment Matters

TECHNOLOGY

AI is rapidly changing how students learn and how educators teach.

COMMUNITY

Parents, educators, students, and residents should help shape how Alameda responds.

GOVERNANCE

Thoughtful decisions begin with listening, learning, and asking the right questions.

Strong Schools

EXCELLENT TEACHING AND LEARNING

High expectations, strong instruction, and opportunities for every student to grow.

SUPPORTING AND RETAINING EDUCATORS

Great schools depend on attracting, supporting, and retaining excellent teachers and staff.

SAFE, WELCOMING, INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS

Every student should feel safe, respected, known, and ready to learn.

PREPARING FOR A CHANGING FUTURE

Alameda schools should thoughtfully prepare students for a world being reshaped by technology.

Experience & Perspective

EXPERIENCE ROOTED IN ALAMEDA

For more than 30 years, I’ve been involved in Alameda public education, including twelve years of service on the AUSD Board of Education. That experience taught me the importance of listening, asking good questions, and making decisions with the entire community in mind.

WHAT TWELVE YEARS AWAY TAUGHT ME

Time away from the Board reinforced two ideas: we can remain lifelong learners, and communities have agency in how new technologies are adopted. AI will continue to evolve, but Alameda can thoughtfully influence how it shapes our schools.

AI & EDUCATION

Technology should empower great teachers—not replace them.

AI is already changing how students learn and how educators work. Alameda should approach that change thoughtfully—protecting privacy and equity, supporting teachers, and including students, educators, families, and the community in decisions.
