California Budget Crisis for 2007

Sacramento Bee columnist Peter Schrag comments on possible new direction by the California Teachers Association in 2007.

Governor Schwarzenegger delivered his 2007 State of the State speech where he laid out his plans for 2007. This speech focuses on finding the center compared to last year's 2006 speech focused on rebuilding the State while the 2005 speech focused on reform.

On Janaury 10th, Governor Schwarzenegger released his 2007/08 Budget (Over 6MB PDF). At the January 30th BOE meeting, the Board of Education will received a report on the impact of the Governor's proposed budget on the AUSD finances.

After the Governor released his May Review, Alameda saff presented a report as it relates to Alameda Unified School District at the May 22nd BOE meeting. CBSA provided their analysis of the May Revise.

In December, EdSource published a summary of 2007/08 Education Budget. In addition, the Governor declared a fsical emergency under Prop 58 due the anticipated $14 billion deficit.
