1.) Bond Financing Update

Background: Vincent McCarley, of Backstrom McCarley Berry, the District's bond financial advisor presented their assessment how much Alameda Unified could raise if the District issued a general obligation bond in the November 2014 Election. Depending on the assessed value growth assumption the District could use from $160 million to $180 million with the maximum $60 per $100,000 of assessed value. This presentation provided answers to the questions at the April meeting.

2. Facilities Master Plan Draft Presentation

Background: QKA presented the draft of the Facilities Master Plan.

Fiscal Implications: None.

3. Facilities Master Plan Implementation Priorization

Background: QKA presented a range of options for beginning to implement the Facilities Master Plan. With Niel Tam absent, the other four board members indicated a preference to focus on the high schools in the first phase.

4. Teacher of the Year Recognition

Background: Each year the district conducts an extensive process to select a district teacher of the year. This year Michael Lamb, Alameda High School Math teacher was selected.

5. Wood Middle School Restructuring Plan

Background: Staff presented a summary of the restructuring plan for Wood Middle School.

Fiscal Implications: Significant investment of General Fund dollars.

6. Evaluation of District Wide Initiatives

Background: Staff presented an evaluation of the Math program, Inquiry by Design and Special Education program changes.

Fiscal Implications: None.

7. Review of Measure A Programs

Background: Staff presented a review of the magnet/innovative programs adopted at Bay Farm, Earhart, Maya Lin and Encinal as a result of passing Measure A.

8. Common Core Standards Update and Local Control Accountability Plan

Background: Staff presented an update on the implementation of Common Core and progress report on the development of the Local Control Accountability Plan.

9. English Language Learner Master Plan

Background: Staff presented an English Language Learner Master Plan.
